Natural gas will become a major feedstock for liquid fuels and chemical intermediates in the 21st Century. While existing technologies, e.g. Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Gas to Liquids (GTL), may be deployed in specific giant gas fields, new technologies are available to convert low value natural gas into higher value products. The environmental benefits of these next generation processes include the elimination of gas flaring, potential utilization of biomethane, and the production of no-sulfur fuel.
In these applications, aggressive chemical environments are used that lead to severe corrosion of traditional and specialty materials. In these next generation hydrocarbon processes Tantaline materials have been found to be an excellent fit.
