The most corrosion resistant thermowells commercially available

High quality thermowells supplied by Alloy Engineering, once Tantaline treated are the most corrosion resistant thermowells commercially available. Tantaline achieved this by growing a tantalum surface alloy into the stainless steel thermowell. The result is the Tantaline treated thermowells have a corrosion resistance equal to that of solid tantalum thermowells in highly corrosive media like hydrochloric acid (HCl), sulfuric acid (H2SO4), nitric acid, sour gas (H2S) and phosphoric acid at costs that beat Hastelloy.

Compared to tantalum jacket thermowells, Tantaline is available on any thermowell design, offers quicker measurement response time due no air gaps,  and does not suffer the effect s of tantalum hydrogen embrittlement.

Tantaline thermowells have been applied in the chemical industry since 1993 for temperature measurements in hydrochloric acid and are still in operation today (see our case study).
